Greg Shapiro Keynote Speaker Review, May 2025
25 years ago, I performed at a corporate event for the launch of a management book. 25 years later, I was asked to give a keynote speech at a follow-up event. And the review was glowing.
The speech was not easy. I had to be funny, but also I had to reflect on one of the authors who had passed away. I had to make jokes for people who were pro-AI (but I hate AI). And I had to be engaging, but my stage was in the middle of a dining room in a castle.
The host of the day was Vincent Everts, and he was the one who brought me on the project. We’ve worked together on many projects over the years, but this is the first time he write a review so effusive in its praise.
Vincent Everts:
“You were absolutely brilliant last night.”
“You didn’t just add humor to the evening – you elevated it. Your insight, your sharpness, your perfectly tailored jokes around The Joy of Total Action, and the way you connected it to the original Total Action book from 25 years ago – it was just masterful.”
“After seven hours of deep academic analysis, philosophical dialogue, and historical reflection, you brought exactly what we all needed: a collective breath, shared laughter, and a sense of connection. You made us think, and then you made us laugh. That’s rare.”
“You’re a true craftsman – not just as a Boom Chicago legend or the quintessential American-Dutch cultural bridge, but as someone who takes content seriously and knows exactly how to make it resonate through humor. Your nod to Seth Meyers and your reflection on the original book launch 25 years ago added a deeply personal layer that tied past, present, and future together beautifully.”
“Greg, you’re not only incredibly funny – you’re meaningful, relevant, and precise. You weren’t just funny. You were exactly what we needed. Thank you for giving us an unforgettable moment.”
